Baking Beyond Borders

All immigrants deserve the right to be treated with dignity and humanity, and the right to the same basic civil liberties as all other people

We are kicking off 2025 in a BIG way! In partnership with LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in DTLA, join us on Sunday, January 26th for a very special Gather for Good Charity Bake Sale, BAKING BEYOND BORDERS, to support immigration rights.

This will be an old fashioned bake sale featuring the most delicious pastries from all your favorite bakeries and chefs, artisan coffee, drinks, music and all the good vibes! Event admission is free and registration is encouraged.

Proceeds from all sales will be donated to ACLU and No Us Without You — both doing incredible work to support at-risk communities that are facing tremendous challenges as the new administration enters office.

Immigrants are a critical role in the food industry across the nation— from restaurants to agriculture, and other food-related industries.

WE STAND WITH OUR PEOPLE AND SUPPORT THE RIGHTS OF ALL IMMIGRANTS TO KEEP ALL FAMILIES TOGETHER.

Can't make it? Donate to the bake sale!

This event is in partnership with LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes

LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is a community hub where people gather to celebrate Latinx culture through transformative exhibitions, music, dance, culinary arts, and multigenerational artmaking and storytelling experiences.

Housed in two historic buildings in downtown Los Angeles, LA Plaza is adjacent to Olvera Street at El Pueblo de Los Angeles. The main campus includes a museum, a 30,000-square-foot outdoor space with a performance stage, an edible garden and LA Cocina de Gloria Molina, a teaching kitchen and flexible event space that spotlights the history, culture, and influence of Mexican and Mexican American cuisine. LA Cocina is located directly across the street and offers cooking classes and demonstrations, a Culinary Youth Training Program, and private tastings.

An anchor cultural institution in Los Angeles County, LA Plaza centers the Latino experience and provides a space to uplift, share, and preserve the stories of Mexicans, Mexican Americans, and Latinx people in Southern California.

We encourage all BAKING BEYOND BORDERS attendees to also make time to view their current exhibit — Jamie Munoz: Truth is a Moving Target, ending on Sunday January 26.

LA Plaza is located at 501 N Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

NO US WITHOUT YOU

No Us Without You LA provides food security and other essential resources for the undocumented immigrants who are the backbone of the hospitality industry in the greater Los Angeles area. These hard-working women and men who have, for years, fulfilled the unforgiving back of house restaurant positions, have found themselves in the vulnerable position of being food insecure, with little to no government assistance.

ACLU SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The ACLU of Southern California is at the forefront of local, state and national efforts to protect all immigrants – citizens and non-citizens alike – from unlawful imprisonment, discrimination and law enforcement abuses, and to ensure that they are afforded their due process rights to a fair hearing and access to legal assistance in immigration proceedings.
