who we are
We are a community group of business owners, parents and caring residents who were feeling helpless and overwhelmed by the current news climate and wanted to make a difference. This all started because we love to connect with our neighbors, friends and family over good pastries and coffee. And through the action of gathering people together, doing good and giving back—we have slowly found our voice again in this challenging time.

We are co-founded and operated by Steph Chen, owner & baker of Sugarbear Bakes and Sherry Mandell, owner & farmer of Tehachapi Grain Project. In 2017, we started this non-profit organization to mobilize restaurant owners, chefs, farmers and the food community to raise money for charities that we care deeply about.
We believe there is an opportunity for each and every one of us to get out there and build our communities to be stronger than ever.
